Lodging Description: Gold Mountain Manor, Big Bear's First Historic Log Cabin Mansion Bed & Breakfast, transports you back to a time of rustic elegance, of taking the time to listen to the wind through the pines and smell the fresh cookies baking. The Manor features six uniquely appointed guest rooms, all with private bath and woodburning fireplace. There's the Bouquet room which showcases the manor's orginal Matriarch, Bessie's, love of flowers and the Lucky Baldwin Room, our homage to the man who struck it rich on Gold Mountain. Feel like a romantic retreat? How about Bessie's room, with its high brass bed and white whicker accents. Or maybe a hollywood romance in the Clark Gable Room with its woodburning stove that witnessed the honeymoon of Clark Gable and Carol Lombard. And for the ultimate in pampering, try the Presidential Suite, with its private sitting room and fieldrock fireplace or the Ted Ducey Suite, with its jacuzzi built for two and private entrance to the wraparound veranda. The common rooms are spacious and inviting, with the living room and its massive fieldrock fireplace complete with model train and the game room with its billiards and chaise lounge for watching the snow fall. Sumptuious breakfasts are served daily in the dining room with handpainted table or on our gorgeous veranda, overlooking the half acre of ponderosa pine we call the front yard. Breakfast is included in your lodging, as well as afternoon treats and beverages. We are only half a block from the National Forest and a five minute drive to Big Bear Lake, so come get away from it all and step back to a time of relaxed elegance.
